Sheep

Chapter 1 - The creation

In the long dark past there existed a young lamb, roaming free on the open moorlands in the heart of England. He was experienced in the art of chewing grass and drinking from the little stream that ran through his pasture. Life was easy: wake up, chew grass, drink, roam, chew grass, excrete, roam, sleep....

As he was reaching the latter part of his teenage years a strange thing happened. Scientists in a nearby area were doing experiments into genetic mutations between humans and elves. One young scientist was getting a bit too keen in his work and was doing a lot of work in his spare time. He decided to implant a mutated brain of a human-elf cross breed into a sheep (as you do). But first he needed a sheep. Early one cold, frosty morning he set out into the moorlands to search for a subject...

The little lamb was just waking from his slumber. There was a nasty chill in the air so he decided to roam about a bit to warm himself up. His roam took him a bit out of the way of his usual territory and the grass here was beginning to thin a bit. In the distance he noticed a small object. It was shiny and had large serrated edges on it. As he got closer he saw that in the center of the object was a large, fresh clump of grass. It looked delicious. He trotted on over to it and took a bite. WHUMP! The serrated edges of the object joined forces with the young lambs cranial area....

When he awoke, the young lamb felt strange. He looked himself over. He looked the same. But he had a strange feeling of higher conciousness. He looked at his surroundings. Ugh! He was led on a table. The floor was a mess a red stuff and grey squidgy stuff. There were loads of shiny metal objects about. Somehow he knew these to be scalpels and saws but didn't know how. More things were entering his head. He knew words. Words other than 'BAAAA' and 'Mehhhhehh'. Words like 'hello' and 'nice to meet you' and 'what strange pointy ears you have'. His head was a mess of images. Living in the moorlands, living in a underground network of caverns, living in small thatched cottage. Where had these thoughts come from? As the hours passed and the knowledge in his head gained some sort of twisted order, he gradually began to make sense of what had happened. And now he was pissed off.

A few hours later the door to the room opened. In walked a young scientist. The young lamb eyed him up and down with contempt. "How are you feeling?" he asked the lamb. Not wanting to give him the satisfaction of knowing his experiment had worked and also feeling a little scared, he didn't reply. "COME ON TALK TO ME!!!!" the young man screamed, "I CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER FAILURE!!!". The lamb stayed quiet.

Thinking his experiment had gone wrong (look - he was a young scientist and inexperienced, ok? He couldn't be bothered to do scientific experiments or anything like that - just go with it....:) he grabbed the lamb, took it out to his carriage and threw it into the back. He drove some distance in the middle of nowhere which is always some distance from anywhere really and tossed the lamb from the carriage.
